Electrophorus

Discover how to light a small bulb using static electricity! Learn to construct an electrophorus by taping a Styrofoam cup to the center of a pie pan. Once the pie pan is charged, separate the leads of a neon bulb and tape one lead to the edge of the pan. When you touch the free lead of the bulb, it will glow brightly, demonstrating the presence of static electric charges in a clear and fascinating way.
